Message From The Family

Thank you for your support during this difficult time. Please enhance this tribute to Wipada by adding your memories and photos.

Wipada "Kai" Keyes, age 65, of Elkton, MD, unexpectedly passed away in her sleep on Wednesday, December 16, 2020. She was born in Thailand on September 9, 1955 to Turien and Somwang (Tosuwan) Sritubtim.
Kai began life with her soul mate; husband James of 46 years, when they married in Thailand when she was 19. They came to the US to begin their new life together. Kai became a naturalized US citizen; something that was very sacred to her. She was honored to be an American and truly understood what it meant. Kai was a hard worker and always did her best. She did shift-work for 30 years until she retired in 2010. Despite working long hours with little to no sleep, she always managed to go to all of her son's and daughter's school functions and sports activities when they were young. As her children grew older, her family expanded. She had 13 grandchildren and was the BEST Grandma. She loved spending time with each of them, watching them play sports, and loved talking football with them. She loved her family dearly.
One of the many ways Kai shared her love was through her cooking. In the kitchen is where you would find her. She loved to cook and she made sure everyone's bellies were full. While Kai could cook up anything, she had several signature dishes everyone loved- shrimp/beef ball soup, papaya salad, beef fried rice, meatballs over rice, collard greens, Thai steak salad, and hot chicken. Over the years she was often referred to as the "Hot Chicken Lady".
Kai had tremendous faith in God and prayed regularly. She touched the hearts of so many with her kindness and generosity. She was the ultimate caregiver to her family, friends and neighbors, her co-workers, and to those in her community whether she knew them for a long time or just briefly. Kai will be deeply missed by all those who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, James Keyes; children, Greg (Danielle) Keyes and Jamie (Curtis) Rocke; grandchildren, Ryan, Christian, Dylan, Tylan, Genesis, Trinitee (deceased), Destinee, Legend, Leila, Zayda, Sabriya, Tobey, and Ellia; and so many loved ones both here and in Thailand.
A celebration of Kai's life will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 259 East Main Street, Elkton, MD, 21921 where friends and family may begin visiting at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at North East Cemetery. To send online condolences please visit, www.rtfoard.com.
